When will people learn...

...that you cannot e-mail/text/Facebook your way into heaven?

Every single time someone posts, "Repost if you believe in God", or some misspelled variation thereof, I have to restrain the smart ass in me. Like right now, such a post ends with the Bible verse, "Deny me in front of everyone [...]"...you get the idea. But OMYGAH I want to respond with, "DENIED." Just to be a smart ass and see what that person's reaction would be. Does anyone ever do that? I'd love to see that comment trail on something like that.

And then when I see these posts end with, "97% of you won't repost", I want to reply, "95% of statistics are made up". 'Cause they arrrreeee.

I'd apologize for my blatant irreverence, but instead I'm going to refer you to the disclaimer on the top AND bottom of my blog site. If you srsly think God is checking your Facebook to make sure you're re-posting that stuff, you deserve my sarcasm and smartassery. Have a blessed day.

This pirate yet lives...

...for now.

Spent last weekend in the Chesapeake area for Sister's college graduation. Had some AMAZING paella at Tio Pepe's in Baltimore. Pricey, but SO FUCKING WORTH IT. Also, didn't realize how much I missed that neck of the wood.

Fiance and I were throwing around different ideas this morning over breakfast, future-wise. Him going overseas again (current job is kinda screwing him), me going back to active duty, me going back to work period, looking for jobs on the east coast...things of that nature. Just talk...even if we were to seriously consider any of those ideas (with the exception of the overseas plan, which could be a very real possibility for the near future), none of those would be occurring during this calendar year.

Tonight's my last class of Race and Ethnic Relations. Learned a couple of interesting things, but for the most part I'm done with it. Next month is General Psych...yay. Psychology is fascinating to me, but I already took Intro to Psych at my last school, and I'm only taking this one because the only other one that appealed to me for June, Earth Science, is six weeks as opposed to four weeks, and so would cut into my July class. Blah, I'll stop boring you.

Kaboom.

The sirens in town went off about fifteen minutes ago. Since then, I've been watching the red blob on the map get closer and closer to me. The rain is coming down hard now, I heard the first bit of thunder a few minutes ago, and either I'm going crazy or the lights have flickered at least twice.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know it's been tornado-hell in these parts all week. The threat of severe weather for this evening was enough for classes at the education center to be canceled. They didn't even do that when the tornado hit STL airport. I think I might go get some emergency supplies together...not that they'll help if my house gets blown away, but it'll give me something to do.

The Rapture.

It is said that tomorrow is The Rapture. I want to know what time it is meant to start. If midnight on 21 May, which time zone? Could The Rapture be happening as we speak, if we go with midnight at the International Date Line? Or is it like the New Year, occurring separately in each time zone as each hits midnight? Things to ponder, my friends.

Someone on suggested the following for the irreverent non-believers looking to have a little fun. In the middle of the night tonight, go up and down your street and litter it with clothing and shoes. See how freaked out your neighbors are in the morning. Hee hee...

Some are confusing The Rapture with The End. The End is scheduled for October; a huge and important difference. But I have to nitpick, of course. From my understanding, there's supposed to be a seven-year gap between The Rapture and Judgment Day. How did it get shortened to five months?

To be honest, I'm rather excited about all this. The way I see it, a lot of jobs are gonna be opening up starting tomorrow, and that increases my chances of getting part-time employment. Also, the world will be a quieter place for a bit, because won't we be seeing a lot less religious fundamentalists starting tomorrow? Dear God, please take the Westboro assholes. If you do, I won't ask for anything for Christmas.

Enjoy your Rapture, everyone. See you all at the post-looting.

The blogosphere is a little grey these days.

Three of the blogs I follow have not had the happiest of news these days. Hugs and well wishes to Monica, the DH, and Laggin.

I haven't had much to blog about. Got big plans this weekend, but they're very TOP SECRET. Unfortunately it requires me to miss a wedding shower, but the bride understands and already has her gift from me.

I've skipped the last two sessions of my current class. I skipped Monday because we had a paper due that I didn't complete. I have no intention of completing it anytime soon. It required the students to seek out an unfamiliar social setting in which we are the minority, and to write about our thoughts and feelings, what we saw and sensed, etc.

Here's the thing about yours truly: I'm always the minority. I'm either the youngest, the only female, the lowest ranking, the only Hispanic, the only Wiccan, the only non-partisan...even when I go to Puerto Rico, because I'm the only one who can't speak an damn Spanish. There aren't many unfamiliar social settings for me. I think all that's left is a drive-by in East St Louis and a KKK meeting...and you won't see me venturing into any of those anytime soon.

And finally, I honestly don't care enough about being a minority to pay any attention to that status. I don't sit around in a redneck bar wondering if anyone guesses I'm not white, wondering if they're judging me for it. When I first heard that there are KKK residing in my town, I was mildly alarmed, but they haven't made a peep in the two years I've been here, and I never concern myself with it anymore.

If someone is unkind me to me, I don't immediately assume that they are discriminating against me. I think the only time in my life that I've ever felt discriminated against was in high school when the kids at the back of the base, on a couple of occasions, threw garbage at me - - just me - - and I'm pretty sure that had more to do with the fact that I was a) not black, and b) opposed to the hip hop station being the only one played on the bus radio. What can I say? Kids are stupid.

Wait, there was one other occasion, and that was when a Christian found out I was Wiccan and spent the rest of the day judging me for it. He was appalled that I would give up Christ, blah blah blah. My damn fault for even mentioning it.

I digress. My point is, it's a stupid assignment, and I'm about to get my first B since I started at this school. O well.

The girl on the left, with long brown hair and glasses, and Fiance's sister. Her name is Angie Laurich. She was last seen Monday night, 9 May, in St Petersburg, Florida. She has not been in touch with anyone since Tuesday morning, 10 May. She is the mother of two sweet little girls. If you have any information on her whereabouts, please contact Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. Please pass this along. Thank you so much.

If you can't go above, just go below.

Billions wasted on a stupid fence to separate us from Mexico...so they dig tunnels to get over here.

To the mastermind behind the fence...way to go, dumbshit.

Quarters Auction for Breast Cancer Benefit.

If you're in the area, head over to the Pastime Club of Imperial in Imperial, Missouri, today at 2 PM for a quarters auction for breast cancer awareness. Proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society's breast cancer education and early detection programs. I'll be at the Pampered Chef display table, if you want to stop by and say hello.

A blessed Beltane!
